The University of Ottawa International Scholarships for 2025 is committed to fostering a diverse student body and is proud to offer the Entrance & Excellence Scholarships, valued at $11 million, for international students. This four-year scholarship initiative is designed to help offset tuition costs for qualifying undergraduate students.
Entrance & Excellence Scholarship Details
The University of Ottawa aims to balance its global student population by offering average-based renewable scholarships, especially targeting students from African countries, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, South Korea, India, and Bangladesh who are pursuing English-taught undergraduate programs. Starting in the fall semester of 2025, eligible international students from these regions can expect significant tuition fee reductions.
Besides rewarding past academic achievements, the scholarship promotes continued excellence throughout the student’s full-time study at the university. African students and others who are studying in English will benefit from reduced tuition fees and the opportunity to participate in innovative pilot programs across three faculties.

Eligibility
If you have completed postsecondary studies, we will consider these studies when we evaluate your eligibility, even if you are applying to an undergraduate program.
- Check whether you meet the language requirements. At the University of Ottawa, you can take your courses in English, French or both. The choice is yours! You will just need to demonstrate that you are sufficiently fluent in the language in which you choose to study. We might ask you to provide the results of a language proficiency test even if you have studied in a country where English or French is an official language.
- Find out about the prerequisite courses for the program(s) you are interested in.
- Unless otherwise indicated, you must complete all prerequisites in the last year of your secondary studies or at the postsecondary level.

Aid Packages
The amount of the scholarship varies based on admission average and the faculty of the chosen program. A diverse group of faculties will award an equal number of scholarships to ensure maximum diversity.
Application Process
Excellence scholarships are competitively awarded to top applicants with an admission average of 90% or above who apply by April 1, and whose admission is processed by April 15. Preference is given to candidates who prioritise the University of Ottawa as their first choice.
